Laura Dre, born Laura-Beatrix Drezewski on June 27, 1982, is a German-Filipino singer, songwriter, and music producer. She grew up in Germany and spent two and a half years in Los Angeles as a bassist for a metal and pop-rock band before moving to the United Kingdom in 2008. There, she worked as a project manager and later as a police officer in London. Dre began her professional music career in 2009 as the frontwoman of the British electropunk band Vinyl Black Stilettos, which was renamed Vinyl Blackk in 2012 and performed until 2015. After studying music production at the University of West London from 2016 to 2019, where she co-founded the electropunk band Intergalactic Officers of Evil, she embarked on a solo career. Dre released her debut solo studio album, Moving Spaces, in 2021, which won the Best Newcomer community award from the synthwave radio show ForeverSynth. Later that year, she released her second album, Kyoto Dreams (2021), which was conceived as an audio drama and funded through crowdfunding. Working independently, she followed with the cyberpunk-themed instrumental album AKARI LD-01 (2023), which she accompanied with an immersive booklet and a developing tabletop game. Dre released her fourth studio album, Moving Spaces II: Twilight, on October 26, 2023. In 2025, four of her songs from Moving Spaces were featured in the German television series Schattenseite, and her work was featured in the book Making Synthwave: How an Online Music Community Invented a Genre. The same year, she launched The Audio Arcade, an online learning platform for independent artists.
