Jad Wio is a French alternative rock group formed in 1982 by Denis Bortek as a solo project. Originating from France, the project initially consisted only of Bortek, who released the self-produced cassette L'Un seul (1982) on the New Rose label. Guitarist Christophe K-Bye joined the group in 1983. Their early recordings include EPs released through the independent label L'Invitation au Suicide, and the Geneva-based label Helvete Underground Records released their live album Live à la Dolce Vita (1986). Their first studio album, Cellar Dreams, was released in 1986 on Garage Records, followed by Contact (1989), which featured the hit single “Priscilla”. Their third studio album, Fleur de métal (1992), was produced by Bertrand Burgalat, featured the single “Bienvenue”, and was distributed by Squatt, a subsidiary of Sony Music. Following a period of inactivity from 1996 to 2004, the group returned with the albums Nu Cle Air Pop (2005) and Sex Magik - Histoire de Lilith Von Sirius (2007). Bortek also released the album 1888 (2020) under the name Mr. D & The Fangs.
