Jakob Sveistrup, born March 8, 1972 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a Danish singer. He began his musical career performing with various Odense-based bands such as Crew, Kingsunderwear, and CopyCats.dk, before gaining national recognition in 2000 as a contestant on the talent show Stjerne for en aften, where he finished fourth with the song “True to Your Heart”. He won the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in February 2005 with the song “Tænder på dig”, representing Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kyiv with the English version, “Talking to You”, which finished joint 10th in the final on May 21, 2005. He released his self-titled debut album, Jakob Sveistrup, in May 2005, followed by Fragments in August 2006, and later worked as a full-time musician with his backing group, the Jakob Sveistrup Band. His subsequent albums include All In/All Out (2016) and In Your Face (2018), and his singles include “Could Have Sworn” (2006), “Hvem er venner” (2008), and “Damn Good Day” (2015).
