Goodshirt, a rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, formed when keyboardist Gareth Thomas left his recording setup with the Fisher brothers, Rodney and Murray. The band's breakthrough came when they submitted "Green" to a track competition run by radio station 9inety6dot1, leading to their management by station manager Grant Hislop and the addition of drummer Mike Beehre. Their debut album Good was released in July 2001, featuring the Number 1 single "Sophie", which topped the New Zealand charts. The album was certified platinum and released internationally in Canada, Australia, and Japan. In 2004, their second album Fiji Baby reached number 5 on the New Zealand charts. Goodshirt went on hiatus in 2005 when Rodney Fisher moved to London but reunited in 2011, releasing the EP Skinny Mirror in May 2012. The band also released a cover of "Sierra Leone" by Coconut Rough in 2014.
