Abel, a Dutch pop music band from Effen, Breda, formed in 1996. The original lineup consisted of Joris Rasenberg, Freek Imbens, Robert Stobbelaar, and John Koeken. Initially known as The Acting Crowd, they changed their name to Abel in 1997 and shifted towards Dutch pop music. Their breakthrough came with the single "Onderweg" (2000), which reached Number 1 on the Dutch and Flemish charts. This success led to the debut album De stilte voorbij (2000), earning them the title of "most promising act" at the TMF Awards. Despite initial popularity, they faced internal changes and declining success. The second album Doen & laten (2002) was commercially unsuccessful. After a hiatus, they released the single "Zolang je bij me bent" (2010) and the album 12 uur (2010). They also released the album Geen water bij de wijn (2024). Other notable singles include "3 dagen zon" (1999) and "Neem me mee" (2000).
