Kunihiko Sugano, born on October 13, 1936, is a jazz pianist from Tokyo. He began his career in the 1960s, performing in the vibrant Tokioter Jazzszene with notable figures such as George Otsuka and Isao Suzuki. Sugano formed his own ensembles, including the Kunihiko Sugano Quartet and the Kunihiko Sugano Trio, featuring musicians like Eizō Honda. Throughout his career, Sugano released several albums under his name, starting in the late 1960s with Finger Popping (1968), followed by releases such as Portrait (1974) and Incarnation (1975). He also collaborated with various artists, including Eiji Kitamura on the album Collaboration (1973) and Isao Suzuki on the duo album Sincerely Yours (1980).
