Peter Dasent, born in New Zealand, is a composer, pianist, and songwriter who has resided in Sydney, Australia since 1981. He played as the keyboardist for bands such as Spats and The Crocodiles. In the late 1980s, Dasent collaborated with Peter Jackson on several films, including Meet the Feebles (1989), Braindead (1992), and Heavenly Creatures (1994). He also composed music for other notable movies such as Channelling Baby (2000) and Cubbyhouse (2001). Dasent's work extends to television, notably the children's series Play School. Additionally, he leads the chamber-jazz group The Umbrellas.
