Kora Jazz Band, a jazz music group, was formed in 2010 around the Kora Jazz Trio. The band initially featured Soriba Kouyaté on kora, who had previously collaborated with artists such as Paolo Fresu, Ray Lema, and Salif Keita. In September 2010, shortly after recording their debut album, Kouyaté passed away due to cardiac issues. The group paid tribute to him at the Festival Mondial des Arts Nègres in Dakar later that year, inviting his brother Mady Kouyaté for a special performance. Their debut album Kora Jazz Band was released in September 2011 and supported by an international tour in 2012, with Yakhouba Sissokho taking over on kora. In 2014, they released their second album, Back to Africa, which included a reimagined version of Jean-Sébastien Bach's "Badinerie". The group concluded their journey with the live album Live au New Morning (2015), recorded in Paris, before returning to the name Kora Jazz Trio.
