Plamena Mangova, born in 1980 in Pleven, People's Republic of Bulgaria, is a Bulgarian classical pianist. She studied under Marina Kapatsinskaya at the State Academy of Music in Sofia. She later trained with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and with Abdel Rahman El Bacha at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. Her breakthrough came at age 18 when she won third prize at the XIV International Piano Competition 'Paloma O'Shea' in Santander. In 2007, she secured second place at the XVI International Musical Competition Queen Elisabeth, finishing behind Anna Vinnitskaya. Her international concert career began with her debut at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris in 2000. Her discography includes her debut CD, a monographic recording of Dmitri Shostakovich's works including the Piano Quintet, which earned a Diapason d'Or. She also recorded the complete works for violin and piano by Sergey Prokofiev.
