Common Market is an American hip hop duo from Seattle, Washington, consisting of DJ and producer Saba Mohajerjasbi, known as Sabzi, and MC Ryan Abeo, known as RA Scion. After collaborating on tracks for RA Scion’s 2004 solo project Live and Learn, they recorded their self-titled debut album, Common Market, which was released on October 24, 2005. Hip hop artist KRS-One praised the album, performed at the release party in Seattle, and took the duo on the Temple of Hiphop tour. They also released the single “Connect For” (2006). In 2008, the duo released the EP Black Patch War on May 20, 2008, followed by the album Tobacco Road on September 9, 2008, which was supported by a music video for the single “Trouble Is”. The album peaked at number 50 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers chart and won the Independent Music Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album in 2009. Their EP The Winter’s End was released on March 24, 2009, before the members went their separate artistic ways. After a ten-year hiatus, the duo returned on July 12, 2019 to play live at the West Seattle Summer Fest, released the EP Triple Crown on July 19, 2019, and announced a forthcoming album, Pegasus Parade.
