Food, a Norwegian experimental jazz band, was formed in 1998 by British woodwind multi-instrumentalist Iain Ballamy and Norwegian percussionist Thomas Strønen. Their debut performances at Moldejazz 1998 were recorded live and released as Food (1999). The band is recognized for the interplay between Ballamy's melodic playing and Strønen's electronic soundscapes. Subsequent albums include Organic & GM Food (2001), Veggie (2002), and Last Supper (2004). The lineup expanded to include musicians like Arve Henriksen, Mats Eilertsen, and Nils Petter Molvær. Notable releases are Molecular Gastronomy (2007), featuring Maria Kannegaard and Ashley Slater, and Quiet Inlet (2010). Food continued to release music with albums like Mercurial Balm (2012) and This Is Not a Miracle (2015), both on ECM Records.
