Jan de Haas is a Belgian jazz drummer and vibraphonist. Born on June 1, 1962, in Brussels, he studied for three years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he performed with musicians including Phil Wilson and Tony Dagradi. His professional career began in 1981 as a drummer in the BRT orchestra under the direction of Étienne Verschuren. In 1982, he won first prize at the Jazz Hoeilaart competition with his group. He collaborated with numerous artists including Chet Baker, Toots Thielemans, and Jacques Pelzer. He released his debut album, For the One and Only, in 1999, which highlighted his skills as a vibraphonist, and subsequently released Doing My Thing (2003) as the leader of the Jan de Haas Quintet. He also taught at the Conservatory of Antwerp.
