Mikko Aleksi Innanen is a Finnish jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer born on February 28, 1978, in Lapinjärvi, Finland. He began playing the alto saxophone at age ten and completed a master's degree at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2003. He worked in the Scandinavian jazz and improvisational music scene from the 2000s, leading his own band, Innkvisitio, and participating in other groups such as PLOP and Triot. In 1997, he co-founded the sextet Gourmet, which toured internationally and released albums until 2020. He also collaborated with prominent musicians, including Joe Fonda, Lou Grassi, Han Bennink, and Iro Haarla. His discography includes the albums F60.8 (2007) and Clustrophy (2011). He won the award for best soloist at the International Competition for Jazz Groups in Getxo in 2000, received the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation in 2008, and earned a nomination for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2011.
