Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell, known professionally as Jane Russell, was born on June 21, 1921, in Bemidji, Minnesota. She began her career as a model and actress before transitioning into music as a singer. In 1947, she launched her musical career by singing with the Kay Kyser Orchestra on radio and recording two singles, "As Long As I Live" and "Boin-n-n-ng!". She also released an album titled Let's Put Out the Lights that year for Columbia Records. Her music career continued with collaborations such as a single with Frank Sinatra and The Modernaires, "Kisses and Tears", recorded in 1950. Her discography includes notable albums like The Magic of Believing. She was recognized for her contributions to film and music, including having her hand and footprints immortalized at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in 1953. She passed away on February 28, 2011.
