Black Dice, an experimental noise music band from Brooklyn, New York, was formed in 1997 and consisted of brothers Bjorn and Eric Copeland along with Aaron Warren. Their early sound was characterized by thrash-influenced noise, and they released several 7" singles before transitioning to a more rhythmic style similar to motorik and dub. In 2002, Black Dice released their debut album Beaches & Canyons, followed by Creature Comforts (2004) on DFA and Fat Cat Records. Notable songs include "Miles of Smiles" (2004) and "Smiling Off" (2005). The band's music evolved significantly over the years, incorporating elements of Afrobeat and breakbeat. They released several albums including Broken Ear Record (2005), Repo (2009), and Mr. Impossible (2012).
