Arthur Jackson, known as Peg Leg Sam, was born on December 28, 1911, in Jonesville, South Carolina. He was a blues singer and harmonist who began playing the harmonica at a young age. By 12 years old, he had left home and started his itinerant lifestyle, working various jobs before turning to music full-time. In 1937, Jackson joined the medicine show circuit, often performing with Pink Anderson. His unique style included playing two harmonicas simultaneously and using his nose to produce notes. Peg Leg Sam's final medicine show performance was in 1972. In 1973, he released the album Medicine Show Man, featuring collaborations with Henry "Rufe" Johnson and Baby Tate. Jackson passed away on October 27, 1977, at the age of 65.
