A Subtle Plague was founded in 1984 in New York City. The group's first breakthrough came with the 1988 singles "The Failed Pop Experiment" and "America Shops For Truth", which established their presence in the underground scene. They released a series of albums: Inheritance (1990), Implosion (1993), One Night In San Francisco / Live In Denmark And Germany (1994), Kalifornia Must Be Punished (1995), No Reprise (1995), Heat (1996), Hung To Dry (1996), Indepedent Study (1997), and Secret Lives (1999). The band toured extensively, sharing stages with Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, and Sonic Youth. The band disbanded in the late 1990s.
