Frog Eyes, an indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was formed in 2001. The group was fronted by Carey Mercer and included drummer Melanie Campbell as a permanent member. Their debut album, The Bloody Hand, was released in 2002. In 2003, Frog Eyes released The Golden River, which appeared on the !earshot National Top 50 chart that August. The band collaborated with Dan Bejar of Destroyer and Spencer Krug of Sunset Rubdown/Wolf Parade to form Swan Lake, a songwriter's project. Notable releases include Tears of the Valedictorian (2007) and Paul's Tomb: A Triumph (2010), which was longlisted for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. In 2013, they released Carey's Cold Spring, followed by Pickpocket's Locket in 2015. Frog Eyes announced their final album, Violet Psalms, and a farewell tour in March 2018. However, the band reunited in February 2022 to release The Bees.
