Flanger is a German electronic music project founded in 1997 by Uwe Schmidt, who is also known as Atom Heart, and Bernd Friedmann, who is also known as Burnt Friedman. The duo met in Santiago, Chile, in 1997 to record their debut album, Templates (1999). Released by the label Ntone, the album established their style of non-repetitive, complex electronic compositions. They followed in 2000 with the album Midnight Sound, and in 2001, they released the single “Inner Spacesuit” (2001) through Ninja Tune, alongside the double album Outer Space / Inner Space (2001). Their subsequent albums, which include Spirituals (2005) and Lollopy Dripper (2015), were released on the label Nonplace and expanded their collaborative network to include musicians such as Richard Pike and Laurence Pike. Their other releases include the compilation album Nuclear Jazz (2007) and the soundtrack album Bibliotheque Pascal (2010).
