Monarque, a Canadian black metal band from Quebec City, was formed in 2003 as a one-man project by Patrick Pelletier. The group initially released a demo titled Ad Nauseam in 2005 and subsequently signed with Mortification Records. In 2009, Monarque produced their studio album, Ad Nauseam, under Sepulchral Productions, marking the beginning of their collaboration with session musicians Atheos and Bardunor. The band's lineup evolved into a duo with Bardunor on drums. Notable releases include Traditions, Blasphèmes Et Cultes Morbides (2010) and Lys Noir (2013). Monarque also participated in various splits, including Monarque/Blackwind (2008) with Blackwind and Sorcier Des Glaces & Monarque (2012). In 2014, they contributed to the compilation Légendes, alongside other prominent Quebec black metal bands.
