Colalaila was a German-based Klezmer ensemble founded in 1986 and led by Israeli clarinetist Irith Gabriely. The band initially included Peter Przystaniak on piano, Stefan Welsch on cello, and Susanna Laubstein on violin, all of whom were classically trained musicians. Colalaila's repertoire spanned Klezmer, classical, jazz, and original compositions by Przystaniak. The group released their debut album Colalaila: Jewish Folk made in Germany in 1986. They later released The train to Massada in 1995, followed by Klezmer fiestá in 1996. In 1999, they put out Col nidrej, and in 2002, they released Shalom: Musik für den Frieden. Colalaila performed at notable venues such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Kieler Schloss, and Philharmonie Ludwigshafen. They also released live albums including Live in der Berliner Philharmonie (2008) and Colalaila Classic – Konzertmitschnitte 2004, 2005.
