Lindigo, led by Olivier Araste, has been one of La Réunion’s most iconic maloya bands for over twenty years. Founded in Bras-Panon in 1999, the group draws its energy from the songs, rhythms and ceremonies passed down by their ancestors, while creating music that is resolutely open to the world.
With more than 1,500 concerts and eight albums, Lindigo has carried the sound of Maloya far beyond the Indian Ocean. Their music is deeply rooted in La Réunion, its land and Creole culture, while embracing encounters and influences from across the world.
Over the years, Lindigo has collaborated with artists including Fixi, Yarol Poupaud, Pongo, René Lacaille, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, Guillaume Perret, Skip&Die and Cyril Atef, building musical bridges from Brazil to Cuba, from Europe to Africa.
True to their motto, “When you know where you come from, you know where you’re going,” Lindigo creates a maloya that is rooted, alive and contemporary, a sound Olivier Araste calls “Maloya Power”.
Today, the eight musicians bring an explosive live experience where acoustic Maloya meets Afrobeat, Mandingue and Afro-Cuban influences. Driven by powerful percussion, voices and an irresistible sense of trance, Lindigo turns every performance into a vibrant celebration of life, love and the strength of the ancestors.
