Laura Mikkola is a Finnish classical pianist. Born on February 3, 1974, in Helsinki, Finland, she studied at the Sibelius Academy, the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and the Indiana University Bloomington School of Music. Early in her career, she won the UNISA TRANSNET Music Competition in Pretoria and the Maj Lind Piano Competition in Helsinki, and received a contemporary music prize at the Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition in 1992. In 1995, she placed second in the Queen Elisabeth Competition. Her international career began in the mid-1990s, and she recorded for labels including Naxos, la BRI, René Gally, AEON, and Cascavelle. She gained recognition for her recordings of the piano concertos and piano pieces of Einojuhani Rautavaara for Naxos. On February 14, 2020, she released a recording of piano works by French composer David Chaillou on the Fuga libera label, which received a five-star review from the Berlin radio station RBB-Kultur.
