Flowers of Romance, a pioneering punk and gothic rock band from Athens, Greece, was formed in 1981 by Tasos Dimitriadis (bass), Kostas Venos (guitar) and Michalis Pougounas (vocals). Initially known as The Gift, the band changed their name to Flowers of Romance as a tribute to punk legend Sid Vicious. In 1986, they released their first tape, Anovis, and secured a contract with Wipe Out! Records in 1988. Their debut album Dorian Grey was released in 1990, featuring the cult hit cover of Marc Bolan's "Children of the Revolution" and marking Greece's first gothic rock album distributed internationally. The band continued to evolve musically with releases like Pleasure & The Pain (1993) and Brilliant Mistakes (1996), which included collaborations with Wayne Hussey of The Mission. Flowers of Romance disbanded in 1998 due to personal issues within the band.
