Lupicínio Rodrigues was a Brazilian singer and composer, born on September 16, 1914, in Porto Alegre. He is known for his contributions to the samba-canção genre and coined the term "dor-de-cotovelo" to describe his style. His notable works include "Vingança", recorded by Linda Baptista, Elza Soares, Arnaldo Antunes, and Arrigo Barnabé, "Felicidade" performed by Caetano Veloso and Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano, and "Cadeira Vazia" interpreted by Elis Regina, Nelson Gonçalves, Francisco Alves, and Jamelão. Rodrigues also wrote the anthem for Grêmio Football Club. His compositions have been featured on multiple albums, including Lupicínio Rodrigues (1974). Rodrigues passed away on August 27, 1974, in Porto Alegre. He was posthumously awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Porto Alegre by the Porto Alegre City Council on November 4, 2014.
