Dikanda is a Polish folk band formed in Szczecin in 1997. The group developed a distinctive style inspired by Balkan, Eastern European, Romani, Jewish, Kurdish, and Middle Eastern musical traditions, which they describe as “Music of the Four Sides of the East.” Dikanda released their debut album, Muzyka Czterech Stron Wschodu, in 1999, followed by Jakhana Jakhana (2002), Usztijo (2004), Ajotoro (2008), and Rassi (2013). Their music combines original compositions with traditional material and includes songs performed in an invented language referred to as “dikandish.” The band continued its discography with Devla Devla (2017) and Kolęda, Kolęda (2020). In 2022, Dikanda collaborated with Ukrainian group Luiku on the single “Słońce na betonowych ścianach / Cонце на бетонних стінах”.
