Rainer Müller, known professionally as Ray Miller, was a German Schlager singer and DJ born on February 10, 1941, in Berlin, Germany. He began his career in the early 1960s, serving as the youngest editor at Bastei-Verlag in 1963 at age 22, where he managed artist biographies and photos. In 1964, he began working as a DJ in Cologne's Orchestrion, followed by nationwide DJ tours starting in 1966. He released his first singles with Electrola in 1967, and as a songwriter, he wrote Peter Beil's 1970 hit “Heute Nacht”. His most successful period as a vocalist occurred between 1967 and 1971, during which he focused on love-themed songs. His biggest success was the single “Caroline” (1970), which reached number 11 on the German charts. His other charting singles include “Antoinette” (1969), which peaked at number 28, “Gina” (1969), which reached number 27, and “Engelchen” (1971), which reached number 39. He released the studio albums Millers muntere Mädchen (1970) and Mr. ladykiller (1972), though neither achieved chart success. His later career included celebrating his 30-year DJ jubilee in Cologne in 1994, participating in a 1950s festival at the turn of the millennium in 1999, and appearing at the Hans-Süper-Gala in 2002 and the Närrischen Hitparade in 2003. From 2005 to 2007, he worked with the television station Traumpartner TV. He spent his final years with his long-time partner in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, where he died on March 5, 2024.
