Cryptacize, a California pop band, was founded in 2006 by Nedelle Torrisi and Chris Cohen. The band's initial breakthrough came with their debut album Dig That Treasure, released in 2008 on the Asthmatic Kitty label. The album title was inspired by a musical written by Cohen's father in 1958. Cryptacize sparked controversy for their cover of "Peg" by Steely Dan in 2008. Following this release, the band toured extensively across the United States, opening for notable acts such as Why?, Danielson, Sufjan Stevens, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, and The Fiery Furnaces. Their second album, Mythomania, was released in 2009 on Asthmatic Kitty.
