Melatonine is a French post-rock group from Metz, Lorraine, formed in 1999 by guitarist Mathieu Lozinguez and bassist Nicolas Tochet, with drummer Alexandre Oury joining soon after. The trio developed an instrumental sound characterized by calm passages and noisy crescendos. The group's self-titled debut album was self-released in 2001. After signing with the We are Unique! Records label, they released the album Les Environnements principaux (2003), which received critical acclaim from French music press outlets that include Les Inrockuptibles. Their subsequent studio album, Décembre est un samedi, was released in February 2007, marking a post-noise rock sound centered around the guitar-bass-drums trio. The group also released the studio album Stances (2019).
