Jacques Thollot, born Jacques Antoine Thollot on October 9, 1946, in Vaucresson, France, was a French jazz drummer and composer. He entered the conservatory at age 11 and, at age 13, appeared on the television show En direct du Club Saint-Germain, performing “A Night in Tunisia” accompanied by Georges Arvanitas, before studying under drummer Kenny Clarke. In the 1960s, he joined Jef Gilson's group to perform free jazz, later playing with Eric Dolphy and touring Europe with Don Cherry's ensemble. He released his solo debut studio album, Quand le son devient aigu, jeter la girafe à la mer, in 1971. In 1993, he recorded the studio album A Winter's Tale in a trio alongside Jean-François Jenny-Clark and Tony Hymas, followed by Tenga Niña in 1996. His posthumous album, Thollot in Extenso, was released in 2017. He died in Mainneville, France, on October 1, 2014, at age 67.
