Turbo Goth, a Filipino electronic rock and synthpop duo, was formed in 2008 when Paolo Peralta invited Sarah Gaugler to form an electronic rock band. The duo began performing in the underground music circuit in 2009, releasing their first single "Morning Swim" that same year. Turbo Goth's debut album Destroy Us All was released independently in 2011, featuring the notable single "Venus Flytrap". The duo gained international recognition through performances at the 2011 Baybeats Music Festival in Singapore and the 2012 CAMA Festival in Vietnam. Following their show at South by Southwest in 2014, Turbo Goth relocated to New York City to reach a broader audience. Their music is characterized by distorted bass synths and heavy drumbeats, stitched together by light vocals, and often performed with just guitar, vocals, and a drum machine or electronic sampler.
