Jo Zimmermann, born in 1964, is a German musician known as Schlammpeitziger. Beginning to experiment with synthesizers in the mid‑1980s with a Casio CZ230‑S, he created low‑fidelity instrumental tracks that defined his sound. His breakthrough came in 1993 with the limited cassette Erdrauchharnschleck, followed by the split Let the Star Shine In/Burgfensterrhythmuskuckloch in 1994 on Gefriem. Subsequent albums include Freundlichbaracudamelodieliedgut (1996), Spacerokkmountainrutschquartier (1997), and Augenwischwaldmoppgeflöte (2000). In 2001, he issued Collected Simplesongs of My Temporary Past through Domino. Collaborations with F.X. Randomiz and Ulrike Göken enriched his work.
