Fleshgrind, a death metal band with grindcore influences, was formed in 1992 in Chicago, Illinois by Rich Lipscomb on guitar and vocals, along with Dave Barbolla on drums. After releasing their first demo Holy Pedophile (1993), Fleshgrind contributed the song "Anger" to the compilation album Repulsive Assault I (1995) by Repulse Records. Following the release of Sorrow Breeds Hatred... Bleed on Me (1995), they signed with Pulverizer Records and released the album Destined for Defilement in 1997. The band underwent several lineup changes before signing with Olympic Records, where they released The Seeds of Abysmal Torment in 2000. Despite a hiatus due to an injury sustained by Lipscomb and subsequent lineup changes, Fleshgrind continued to release albums including Murder Without End in 2003 and Living Dead with Mortician, also in 2003. The band disbanded in 2005.
