Spinvis is the stage name of Dutch singer-songwriter Erik de Jong (born February 2, 1961), known for his distinctive blend of lo-fi pop, electronic experimentation, and striking lyrics. His self-recorded debut album, Spinvis (2002), became a cult success, producing the minor hits "Smalfilm" and "Bagagedrager." To perform the songs live, he assembled a multi-generational band, leading to the live album Nieuwegein aan Zee. Later releases included Dagen van Gras, Dagen van Stro (2005), Tot Ziens, Justine Keller (2011), Trein Vuur Dageraad (2017), 7.6.9.6 (2020), and Be-bop-a-lula (2023). Spinvis has received major Dutch music and cultural honors, including the Silver Harp, the Pop Prize, the Johnny van Doorn Prize, and the Lennaert Nijgh Prize.
