CROSS VEIN was formed in Tokyo in 2007 by producer Nancha and drummer Van‑ry, with vocalist Ibuki initially joining the line‑up before being replaced by Julia in 2009; the group’s early work consisted of independent singles such as "Aspiration" (2008) and "Burning Beat" (2008). Their debut studio album Birth of Romance was released on 23 November 2012 under an independent label, establishing their presence in the Japanese symphonic power metal scene. In 2015, the band signed with Victor Entertainment and issued their major debut album Royal Eternity, followed by Gate of Fantasia (2018) produced by Hizaki of Versailles and released through Zeno Records Japan; the single "Beautiful Warrior" (2020) peaked at Number 7 on Oricon’s weekly Indies Singles chart, and the subsequent album Life of Veins (2021) reached Number 8 on the Indies Albums chart. A live video album, Special Live Theater of Cross Vein 2020～Return of Warriors～, captured the group’s performance energy and was released in 2020. The band continued to release singles such as "Icarus" (2021) and "Silver Lining" (2022), the latter debuting at Number 10 on the Indies Singles chart. Following a 15th‑anniversary concert, CROSS VEIN announced its disbandment on 25 February 2023, concluding a decade‑long career marked by consistent chart presence and a dedicated fan base.
