Ensemble baroque de Limoges is a French ensemble specializing in the performance of Baroque music, founded in 1985 by Jean-Michel Hasler. They were a French period-instrument orchestra founded to explore and promote Baroque and Classical repertoire, particularly music spanning from Antonio Vivaldi to the early works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Based in the Limousin region of France and resident at the Château de la Borie, the ensemble combined concert performances with educational and research activities. In addition to appearing at major concert venues and festivals, it supported audience development through youth outreach, professional training programs, and music research initiatives. The ensemble was one of the eight founding members of FEVIS, the French Federation of Specialized Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles, established in 1999. Its recordings received widespread critical acclaim and earned distinctions such as the Victoires de la Musique Classique, the Prix de l’Académie Charles-Cros, the Diapason d’Or, and the Choc du Monde de la Musique. They concluded their activities in 2013 following disagreements between its artistic leadership and the La Borie Foundation, where the ensemble had been in residence.
