Manou N'Guessan Gallo, known professionally as Manou Gallo, born on August 31, 1972, in Divo, Ivory Coast, is an Ivorian singer, bassist, percussionist, and producer. She began playing traditional drums at age 8. In 1984, she participated in her first show during the cultural festival Vacances-Culture. Her career progressed when she joined the group Woya in 1985, learning to play modern instruments under the mentorship of Marcelin Yacé. From 1985 to 1989, the group toured extensively across West Africa and recorded four albums. In January 1997, she relocated to Belgium and joined the group Zap Mama as a bassist, touring worldwide for six years. Her solo career began in 2003 with the production of her debut album, Dida, which was followed by Manou Gallo (2006) and Lowlin (2010). She was named Best Live Artist at the Mama Awards in 2009. Her subsequent work includes the album Afro Groove Queen (2018).
