Timna Brauer

Timna Brauer, born May 1, 1961, in Vienna, Austria, is an Israeli-Austrian singer. She earned a doctorate at the Sorbonne focusing on the voice in jazz. Brauer began her musical career by taking opera lessons under Elisabeth Grümmer and studying Indian and jazz singing. In 1985, she formed the Timna Brauer & Elias Meiri Ensemble with her husband, pianist Elias Meiri. The following year, she represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Die Zeit ist einsam", finishing eighteenth out of twenty contestants. She released several albums, including Orient (1987) and Mozart "Anders" (1992).
