Steppeulvene was a Danish rock band formed in 1967, consisting of lead singer Eik Skaløe, guitarist Stig Møller, bassist Søren Seirup, and drummer Preben Devantier. Named after Hermann Hesse's novel Steppenwolf, the band released their debut album Hip in 1967, which was notable for being the first rock album with original Danish lyrics. The group embarked on a tour, but it ended chaotically in in October 1967 when police halted a concert and arrested Skaløe for cannabis use. Eik Skaløe was found dead in October 1968 while traveling through India and Pakistan. Steppeulvene reformed several times throughout the 1970s. In 2002, the group's original lineup recorded a live CD under Steppeulvene.
