Shirley Rumsey, born in 1933, is an English musician who studied lute and voice at the Royal College of Music in London. Her early training led her to specialize in solo vocal music accompanied by the lute, and she expanded her repertoire to include the vihuela and Renaissance guitar. In the mid‑1990s, she recorded two solo CDs for Naxos Records, Music of the Spanish Renaissance (1993) and Music of the Italian Renaissance (1994), both featuring her lute, guitar, vihuela, and vocals. He also collaborated with lutenist Christopher Wilson, co‑directing the ensemble Kithara. She passed away in 1996 at the age of 63.
