Celestial Season is a Dutch musical group formed in Nijmegen, Netherlands, in 1991 by brothers Stefan and Robert Ruiters, Jeroen Haverkamp, Lucas van Slegtenhorst, and Jason Köhnen. The band initially gained traction with their 1992 demo Promises, followed by their debut single "Flowerskin" (1993). Their first album, Forever Scarlet Passion (1993), was an early gothic metal release often compared to works by Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride. The lineup evolved over time, with changes including the addition of violinists Jiska ter Bals and Maaike Aarts for the 1995 album Solar Lovers. The group also released the split single "Fire in the Winter/Above Azure Oceans" (1994) and the EP Sonic Orb (1995). They subsequently released albums such as Orange (1997) and Chrome (1999), exploring styles from stoner rock to alternative metal. The band disbanded in 2001 but reformed in 2011, returning to their early sound. Later albums include The Secret Teachings (2020) and the trilogy Mysterium I (2022), Mysterium II (2022), and Mysterium III (2024).
