Dilermando Reis was a Brazilian guitarist, composer, and teacher who was born as Dilermando dos Santos Reis in 1916. He achieved professional prominence during the “Golden Age” of Brazilian radio, serving as a director and soloist at Rádio Nacional for over 20 years. Reis is famous for technical virtuosity and for popularizing the choro and waltz styles on the classical guitar. He served as a music teacher for the daughter of President Juscelino Kubitschek and was later appointed as an official in the presidential cabinet (1960). His discography includes the studio recordings Sua Majestade o Violão (1957), Abismo de Rosas (1961), and Uma Voz e um Violão em Serenata (1962). He composed over 300 works, including the pieces “Se Ela Perguntar” and “Dois Destinos”. He died in 1977.
