Bernadette Greevy, born on July 3, 1940 in Clontarf, Dublin, Ireland, was a mezzo-soprano singer. She made her first appearance on the operatic stage at 18 as Siebel in Faust at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre and made her professional debut in 1961 as Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto. She was known for her work in oratorio and song recitals, recording music by Mahler, Bach, and Haydn. Greevy received numerous awards, including the Harriet Cohen International Music Award for Outstanding Artistry and honorary doctorates from the National University of Ireland and Trinity College Dublin. She died on September 26, 2008, at age 68.
