Ľubica "Luba" Orgonášová, born on January 22, 1961, in Bratislava, is a Slovak operatic soprano renowned for her interpretations of Mozart roles. After studying music and voice in Bratislava, she began her career at the Banská Bystrica State Opera before moving to Germany in 1983. She gained international acclaim performing leading Mozart roles such as Konstanze, Donna Anna, Pamina, Fiordiligi, and Ilia at prestigious venues including the Vienna State Opera, Paris Opera, Salzburg Festival, and the Royal Opera House in London. In addition to Mozart, her repertoire includes works by Handel, Verdi, Puccini, Bellini, and Donizetti. She has recorded extensively with renowned conductors such as John Eliot Gardiner, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, and Colin Davis, earning recognition as one of Slovakia’s most distinguished classical singers. Her performance of the aria Chi il bel sogno di Doretta? from Puccini’s La rondine was featured in the closing credits of the HBO television series The Sopranos.
