C.C.C.C. is a Japanese Japanoise and power electronics project formed in Tokyo in 1989. The group was founded by performance artist Mayuko Hino and Hiroshi Hasegawa, and initially included Fumio Kosakai and Ryuichi Nagakubo. Known for loud, improvisational, and chaotic live performances, the project released its debut studio album, Reflexive Universe, in 1991, followed by Cosmic Coincidence Control Center (1992). Their subsequent releases in the 1990s include the live album Loud Sounds Dopa / Live in U.S.A. (1993), and the studio albums Flash (1996) and Rocket Shrine (1997). In 1995, musician Thurston Moore used the group's music for a remix of Yoko Ono's song “Rising”. Following a period of inactivity after 1998, they returned in 2007 with the studio album Chaos Is the Cosmos, released through Cold Spring Records, and followed with the album Black Light / Black Heat (2009). The group's early work entered distribution in the United States, receiving airplay on various college radio stations.
