Jolie Holland, born September 11, 1975, in Houston, Texas, is an American singer known for her eclectic blend of folk, traditional, experimental, and blues. She began her career as a member of the group The Be Good Tanyas before embarking on a solo journey. Holland's debut album, Catalpa, was released in 2002, followed by Escondida in 2004. Her subsequent albums include Springtime Can Kill You (2006), The Living And The Dead (2008), Pint Of Blood (2011), and Wine Dark Sea (2014). Notable collaborations include work with Sage Francis on his album Human the Death Dance and with Samantha Parton on Wildflower Blues. Her music has been praised by artists such as Tom Waits, who nominated her for the Shortlist Music Prize.
