We are the Fury is an American rock group founded in Toledo, Ohio, in 1999 by vocalist Jeremy Lublin, guitarist Chris Hatfield, bassist Alan Hoffar, and drummer Stephan Lublin. Initially performing as a nu‑metal band called Hearsay, the lineup shifted to post‑hardcore as Hearsay TAO, adding keyboardist Todd Wehrle and recording the album Where Vision Ends (2002). In 2002, they also released the EP By Land, by Air, by Sleep, then renamed themselves The Fury and issued a self‑titled EP in 2005, adopting a post‑punk sound. After signing with One Big Spark Records in summer 2005, the band became We are the Fury, re‑released the EP as Infinite Jest in 2006, and launched their debut album Venus in 2007. The band earned an Artist to Watch designation from Rolling Stone that same year.
