Soviet is an American electronic rock group founded in 1998 in Syracuse, New York, by vocalist and songwriter Keith Ruggiero. As a film student at Syracuse University, Ruggiero recorded early demos on a Tascam 4‑track and later joined Christopher Otchy, Adam Hughes, and Ian Scheller. Their debut album, We Are Eyes, We Are Builders (2001), was self‑produced and released by Plastiq Musiq, then reissued by Mogul Electro in 2002. Spies in the House of Love followed in 2004 under SoundsRed, and Life Begins at Rewirement (2012) saw Ruggiero score the film of the same name. Soviet toured with The Killers, Fischerspooner, and held a 2003 residency at Spaceland.
