Erika Köth was born on September 15, 1925, in Darmstadt, Germany. She contracted polio at age eight but recovered through therapy. In 1947, she won a singing competition organized by Radio Frankfurt, performing the aria of the Queen of the Night from Die Zauberflöte. This led to her debut as Philine in Mignon at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern in 1948. Köth joined the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in 1953, where she performed roles such as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor and collaborated with notable artists like Hans Hotter and Fritz Wunderlich. Köth passed away on February 20, 1989, in Speyer, Germany.
