Jherek Bischoff, born on September 11, 1979 in Sacramento, California, is an American composer, arranger. Raised aboard a sailboat, he learned diverse instruments on Bainbridge Island, Washington, and studied music part‑time while writing for the Seattle scene. In 2012, he released Composed, featuring nine orchestral pieces and collaborations with David Byrne and Nels Cline. In 2016, he followed with the orchestral album Cistern, inspired by Fort Worden, and later scored theater productions such as The Ocean at the End of the Lane (2019) and Eureka Day (2022). Bischoff’s work has been performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Kronos Quartet.
